5.) Manuscripts limited to case reports will not be considered for this award.
6.) The manuscripts are judged on study design, scientific merit, and written communications skills.
a.) Manuscripts are judged and the annual winner is selected by a panel of ACZM Manuscript Competition Subcommittee members selected by the Subcommittee Chairperson.
We encourage you to nominate veterinarians in your internship, residency or graduate training programs who have published high quality work in 2007 as determined by the publication date of the issue in which the manuscript appears. Articles published in any peer-reviewed journal are eligible for the competition. To nominate a candidate and their manuscript, please send 3 copies of their paper (photocopy is fine) and a brief letter from you as their mentor indicating that the work being reported in the paper was done while the primary author was in a post DVM training program. Nominations should be sent to:
Wm. Kirk Suedmeyer, D.V.M., Dipl. ACZM
Director of Animal Health
Kansas City Zoo
6700 Zoo Drive
Kansas Citty, Missouri 64132 USA
and postmarked no later than July 15, 2008. The ACZM Manuscript Award Committee will read the nominated papers and select the winner on the basis of overall scientific merit, cogent and clear writing, and the potential impact of the work on zoological medicine.
This year's award will be presented in October at the annual AAZV Conference in Los Angeles, California.
